Sailing Yacht "Celine" available for Dolphin Watch Day Trips in Cardigan Bay and Skippered Charters of up to 14 days, along the Welsh coast,or to Ireland  and the Isle of Man.
Trips are agreed and planned to suit you and the prevailing conditions of weather and tide. A typical day trip itinerary, and one much enjoyed by us, would be a gentle sail down to Newquay some 15 nautical miles South of Aberystwyth, keeping a lookout for seals, bottle nosed dolphins and a variety of seabirds on the way.At Newquay we drop anchor in the bay with it's bottom of fine sand, and enjoy a cold lunch at the cockpit table, or if you prefer and conditions allow we can ferry you ashore in the tender for a picnic on the beach.( Please advise us in advance of any special dietary needs). After lunch we will weigh anchor and set sail on the return journey of approximately three hours, arriving back in our berth at Aberystwyth Marina after an enjoyable and memorable day afloat.
Longer charters of  5 days can be arranged, which depending on weather and tides would allow visits to places such as Barmouth, Porthmadog, Pwllheli and Bardsey Island. While a 10 day charter would allow us to visit the beautiful harbours of southern Ireland or Scotland and the Isle of Man.
 A typical 5 day trip itinerary might be: on day 1, a sail of about four hours, following the coast to the North of Aberystwyth, to the little harbour of Barmouth. Here we pick up a mooring and go ashore for the afternoon/evening in the tender. There are numerous shops pubs and restaurants here, but when you are ready to return, call us on the mobile and we'll come and pick you up and ferry you back to Celine. The following day, our time of departure will depend on the tide, but once clear of the harbour entrance we can head further North through the East Passage of St. Patrick's Causeway and on to Porthmadog. The entrance to Porthmadog is stunningly beautiful, and leads us to a little harbour in the heart of Snowdonia. After berthing Celine, probably rafted along side another vessel, as space is at a premium in this pretty little haven, we can go ashore to explore. From here you can take a ride on one of the most picturesque steam railway rides in the world, up in to the mountains as far as Blaenau Ffestiniog.By day three we will all be ready for a night in a marina with all it's facilities, so as the tide allows, we can set sail for Pwllheli with it's well appointed marina full of some very impressive and expensive sail and motor yachts, and, as visitors to the marina, you will be welcome in the club to socialise in the evening. Access to and from Pwllheli marina is possible at almost all states of tide, so on day four, we can depart as soon as we are ready, to sail west along the coast of the Lleyn peninsula, past St. Tudwals Islands, and on to the well known seal and sea bird sanctuary of Bardsey Island. In fair weather, and with winds from .W. to N.E.it is possible to anchor in a sheltered bay and visit the Island, and even spend the night there at anchor, but if not, we can return to Pwllheli for another night,in preparation for the fifth and  final day's sail; right across the bay, back to Aberystwyth some thirty miles to the South. While we can't guarantee it of course, we are very often blessed with an encounter with Cardigan Bay's resident school of bottlenosed dolphins during our trips across the bay.

PRICES
Celine can carry up to 7 persons for a day trip but only 5 for longer trips involving overnight accommodation on board. Short cruises are charged at the rate of £30 per hour, which for a group of say 5 people, works out at only £6 per person per hour..A full day trip costs £200, which for a group of  5, works out at only £40 each and includes lunch! Longer charters (2 to 10 days), also cost £200 per day including breakfast, lunch and all mooring fees.(i.e. £40 a day each, for a group of 5) We normally eat ashore in the evenings at our own expense.

 CELINE is based at Aberystwyth marina and is a "Moody 33". These vessels have a reputation for strength, seaworthiness and comfort. As well as being equipped with modern electronics such as GPS, Navtex and autopilot, she is fully certified and coded by the MCA. ( maritime and coastguard agency).


YOUR SKIPPER

Your skipper is Damian Sidnell, who as well as being an experienced and qualified yachtsman( RYA/MCA Commercial Yachtmaster Offshore and Yachtmaster Instructor), also holds a commercial hovercraft Captain's licence. He has worked all over the world commissioning new british built hovercraft and training their operating crews.In 2002 he worked as a pilot/engineer of the larger hovercraft in the chase sequence in the James Bond movie, Die Another Day, and has a mention in the credits.

Cardigan Bay
We are privileged to have Cardigan Bay as our cruising ground. Stretches of it's shoreline are designated Heritage Coast, home to seals and seabirds.It is also one of only two locations in the U.K. to have a resident school of bottlenosed dolphins, and one area of most frequent sightings is between Aberystwyth and Newquay.
